Welcome to the Garden of Eadon…“The parallel I see, is that we unveil your authentic self, which may have been influenced by your genes (body) and your environment (mind), which can then cloud your true nature (soul)."
…a therapeutic home to balance mind, body and soul…
I am Alexander Gray…
The Garden of Eadon is a metaphorical place for counselling and psychotherapy with me. I did not want to use my name to represent my business, wanting instead something which captures some of the nature and heart of my work, and speaks to the sense of possibility and awareness we can find in our work together.
So, I used my middle name - Eadon - as a play on words to describe therapy with me - a place that offers a return to innocence, balance and harmony with nature. The garden aspect is a nod to the Elements model I often use in sessions, which involves exploring qualities within a person through a lens of earth, water, fire and air. Regardless of our biological sex or gender identity, we can also experience the elements through masculine and feminine archetypes.
Garden of Eadon is therefore a name that for me brings up aspects of nurture, nature and the divine in balance with the masculine and feminine - a beautiful space for therapy.
I believe I am quite rare as a male therapist, specifically trained to work with people of all ages.
I have a BSc (Hons) in Sport Psychology, an MA in Transpersonal Child, Adolescent and Family Therapy and a Diploma in Sandplay Therapy. I am accredited by UKCP and registered with BACP. I have an enhanced DBS and full indemnity cover to practice in any environment.
Personally, as a white, cis man in a heteronormative world, I am taking steps to reduce the impact of my privilege and meet my clients from an informed place with regards to social graces and intersectionality. Part of this is explored through being a Friend of BAATN – The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network and making my practice GSRD friendly.
I am a transpersonal integrative psychotherapist. This means I use a range of disciplines and techniques in response to different presentations and people. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space to explore and express material in safety.
My skills involve global listening, inviting reflection on feelings and patterns of behaviour and encouraging self-awareness and development. Much of this is done through talking as a base layer, but can also involve interventions through creative imagination. This includes things like breathwork, visualisations, bodyscans and drawing. This allows us to work on what is going on for you mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
I hope these pages have offered reassurance, comfort and information, or simply sparked thought.
