My expertise
Beyond my general practice, I have a number of specialist areas where I have both lived experience and clients presenting with specific needs. Please see below for links to more information about autism, boarding school syndrome, men’s work and inner child access.
AUTISM
I often help clients navigate diagnosis and making sense of how autism may affect them. I am licensed by the National Autistic Society to run their Teen Life programme training parents with autistic teenagers. I also provide child therapy and parent sessions for Express CIC, an autism charity serving Kingston, the wider area and online.
BOARDING SCHOOL
Boarding school is often seen as a privilege and a path to power, despite decades of abuse and abandonment being reported by ex-boarders. I boarded from 8-18, so I have lived experience, as well as completing training in specialist psychotherapy with ex-boarders. I offer individual and group support to move from surviving to living.
MENS’ WORK
In the UK, it is reported that only a third of people in therapy and a quarter of therapists are men. I am specifically trained to work with men individually and in groups, particularly focusing on the balance between masculine and feminine and Jung’s archetypes of the King, Warrior, Lover and Magician. Lean into brotherhood.
INNER CHILD
I use sandplay as a wonderful medium for non-verbal work – simply creating scenes in the sand with symbols and figurines. Themes can be explored through play, which otherwise might be too difficult to put into words. Sandtray therapy is particularly useful for assessments with children, processing trauma and communicating without words.
